  • Ben Barnett

    With 22 years’ experience in the massage world, Ben worked with John's team to design the original Hydrotherm training courses.

    Ben has worked with clients and therapists affected by Cancer for more than 15 years in clinics from Belgravia, South Kent and Tunbridge Wells. He specialises in mind/body work including guided visualisation to enhance the physical benefits of hands-on therapy. Ben aims to improve quality of life of every client that he sees. 

    For ill or elderly clients Ben finds Hydrotherm perfect to support them comfortably and to treat them effectively, even in a hospital setting, and to give them back some of what illness can take away.

    John has a proven track record of helping therapists avoid the wrist and lower back problems associated with the provision of massage therapies with his invention of the Hydrotherm Massage System.

    His Company HTS (International) Ltd sells and distributes the Hydrotherm systems and offers training throughout the UK, USA and Australia. John heads a team of therapists at his successful therapy clinic in Thame, Oxfordshire working alongside his business partner Mark Webster.

    Unafraid to question and challenge the status quo within the massage community, John is especially proud to have worked alongside Julie Speed, Debbie Moore and Kerry Prentice in developing an approved training course for the provision of massage for those with cancer and setting up the Amethyst Trust

  • Jacqui Mexson

    Based in Kenilworth, Warwickshire, Jacqui has had her own private practice as a multi-skilled holistic therapist/teacher for 14 years. She has worked with Hydrotherm Massage System from the outset, teaching Hydrotherm at all levels. In addition, as an Usui and Karuna Reiki Master/Teacher she has been teaching Reiki for therapists who wish to add new skills to their “toolbox”.

    Since qualifying as a therapist she has been passionate about working with people who are chronically ill or in palliative care and she has considerable experience in this field, having undertaken specific training for that purpose and having worked for some time in a hospice environment.

    It is her view that no one should ever be turned away from receiving massage because they have had, or currently have cancer as this is a time when people need to be treated as a whole being, not someone labelled with an illness.

    Principal, International Beauty & Holistic Academy. 

    Kerry Lawlor has 30 years experience in the beauty industry, both working in a salon and in an education environment. She started working in salons and teaching in a large further education college, progressing to quality assurance work. Kerry has been fundamental in the development of the Amethyst Trust training courses.

    Kerry was most recently employed to carry out the day to day running of an international awarding organisation, supporting the development of beauty and holistic qualifications. Her passion is helping students develop their skills to fulfil their dreams and career aspirations.

    Kerry works as a beauty therapist at Cedars Health & Beauty Centre and specialises in aromatherapy, Swedish massage and Hydrotherm massage therapy treatments.

  • Julie Speed

    Director of the International & Holistic Academy, Cedars Health & Beauty Centre and finance director of the Amethyst Trust.

    Julie Speed has 30 years of experience in the industry, both working in a salon environment and in a training capacity with FE and private colleges; she also is a highly qualified IPL specialist.

    Julie was Director of Operations for BABTAC & CIBTAC from 2010 to 2013. Julie has been business partner to Debbie Moore for 25 years and worked with John Holman to develop training courses to enable salons and spas to welcome people with experience of cancer; with the full support of Penny Brohn Cancer Care.

    Julie works as a beauty therapist at Cedars and specialises in reflexology, aromatherapy, Swedish massage and Hydrotherm massage therapy treatments.

    Director of the International & Holistic Academy, Cedars Health & Beauty Centre and secretary of the Amethyst Trust.

    Debbie has over 25 years industry experience and is passionate about raising industry standards and the need for good quality training. Debbie was fundamental in developing the charity Cedars Amethyst Trust where funds were raised to provide beauty therapy treatments for cancer patients and was Winner of the Contribution to the Community Award on two occasions.

    Debbie has been business partner to Julie Speed for 25 years and worked with John Holman to develop training courses to enable salons and spas to welcome people with experience of cancer; with the full support of Penny Brohn Cancer Care.

    Debbie works as a beauty therapist at Cedars and specialises in reflexology, aromatherapy, Swedish massage and Hydrotherm massage therapy treatments.

    Michelle set up and now runs her own successful academy offering flexible VTCT NVQ Hair, Beauty, Holistic and related qualifications and short Beauty Guild accredited courses. Two years ago along with an old friend and colleague Michelle developed their own ritual massages and brand of pre-blended aromatherapy massage oils, balms and candles called ‘Flambéssage.’ Michelle has been a trainer for Hydrotherm for two years.
